Dismissal of NHM Outsourced Workers Sparks Controversy in Shimla: CPI(M) Leader Warns of Protests

1 min read

Shimla, August 8: The case of three outsourced workers from the National Health Mission (NHM) being dismissed from their jobs for not working at the Health Secretary’s residence has now begun to gain momentum. CPI(M) leader and former MLA Rakesh Singh has issued a warning to the government, urging them to quickly reconsider this decision, stating that if the jobs of these three outsourced workers are not reinstated, a strong protest movement against the government will be initiated.

Former MLA and CPI(M) leader Rakesh Singh stated that the Health Secretary has ruined the lives of three NHM outsourced workers by terminating their employment. These are the same workers who risked their lives to provide services during the COVID-19 pandemic and have been working for the past seven to eight years. However, they have now been unlawfully dismissed from their jobs. These workers were employed to work in the office, not at the residence of any official. One of them is a disabled woman. This method of job termination by the authorities is not appropriate.

He pleaded with the government to promptly reverse this decision, and if the government does not reinstate these workers, they will not back down even if they have to sit on a protest. The battle against the government on this issue will be fought relentlessly. A meeting with the Chief Minister will be sought, after which a strategy for the way forward will be devised.
