SJVN Awarded Balance of System Package for 100 MW Solar Project in Punjab

 Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN informed that the Company’s wholly owned subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) has entered into an agreement for Balance of System (BOS) Package for 100 MW Solar Project in the state of Punjab. SGEL has entered into agreement with M/s BVG India Limited, this is SGEL’s first awarded BOS Contract which amounts to Rs 132.64 crores. The contract also includes Operation and Maintenance of the Solar PV Plant for a period of three years.

Nand Lal Sharma further informed that, SJVN bagged the Project through Tariff based Competitive Bidding Process, on Build Own and Operate (BOO) basis through e-Reverse Auction (e-RA) at a tariff of Rs. 2.65 per unit. The commissioning of this Project is expected to reduce 259798 Tonnes of carbon emission and would contribute in Government of India’s mission of reducing carbon footprint.

He further told that the tentative cost of Construction of this project is Rs. 545 Crores. The project is expected to generate 227 MU in the first year, while the cumulative energy generation over a period of 25 years would be around 5302 MU. The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has already been signed between PSPCL and SJVN for 25 years.

The Contract Agreement was signed by Sh. Manoj Kumar Negi, Dy. GM, SGEL and Pankaj Dhingra, Director, BVG India Limited in the august presence of Sh. Akhileshwar Singh, Director (Finance), SJVN,  Ajay Kumar Singh, Dy. CEO and senior officials of SGEL and M/s BVG India Limited.

Sharma further stated that Government of India has envisaged the vision of Power to All 24X7. On various platforms, Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi has also stated, India’s intent to generate 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030. He also informed that Union Minister of Power & NRE, R.K. Singh is extending great guidance & support to all power sector PSUs to go aggressively in harnessing of Solar Power potential to achieve goal of 24X7 affordable and green power.  In line with the target set by the Government of India, SJVN has set its Shared Vision of capacity addition of 5000 MW by 2023-24, 25000 MW by 2030 & 50000 MW by 2040.

Balance of System (BOS) encompasses all components of a photovoltaic system other than the photovoltaic panels. This includes wiring, switches, a mounting system, one or many solar inverters, a battery bank and battery charger.
