Training imparted to women polling officers in Hamirpur

Hamirpur , Oct 31 – Moving forward from the decision of the Election Commission of India to conduct the voting process only through women officers and employees at two polling stations of each assembly constituency in the general elections, district Hamirpur is going to take a special initiative.
Under this special initiative, women officers will be appointed in five polling stations in each of the five assembly segments of the district as against two earlier.
Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Debasweta Banik said Monday that women officers and employees were being specially trained for this today at their respective places. She said a total of four women officers and employees including the Presiding Officer, Assistant Presiding Officer and two Polling Officers would be assigned duty in each team to be deployed at these 25 polling stations of the district.
She said for the first time such a large number of polling stations would be completely manned by women’s teams.
On Monday, a training program was organized for women officers-employees of Hamirpur assembly constituency at the local zila Parishad Hall. On this occasion, SDM and Returning Officer of Hamirpur Assembly Constituency Manish Kumar Soni and other officers gave detailed information regarding the voting process to the women officers and employees.
