AIIMS Bilaspur is going to screen Athletes with Intellectual Disability

AIIMS Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh is going to screen around 350 athletes with intellectual disability (children & adults) on 5th April 2022 during a full day multi-specialty medical camp. The camp shall start at 8.30 am with in AIIMS campus. The camp is being organized under “National Health Fest for Divyangjan: We Care” which is an initiative of Special Olympic Bharat as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. “National Health Fest for Divyangjan” will entail medical screenings of 75000 Athletes with Intellectual Disability being carried out by 7500 trained medical professionals across 75 cities, on the World Health day.

Special Olympic Bharat is accredited by the Special Olympics International, USA to carry out Sports program for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities. It is a National Sports Federation, supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt of India. Special Olympic Bharat is applying for Guinness World Records, Asia Book of Records & Limca Book of Records in a bid to recognize the collective effort being done under this program that touches upon the live of individuals from across the country.

In addition to Medical camp, there will be Fit 5 regimen activity for these athletes with intellectual disability under “Return to play inclusion Revolution” of Special Olympic Bharat in collaboration with Fit India Mission.

Smt. Sarveen Choudhary, Hon’ble Social Justice & Empowerment Minister of Govt. of Himachal Pradesh will grace the occasion as chief guest in inaugural function of this camp. The event will be organized in collaboration with Special Olympic Bharat-Himachal Pradesh, NGO-Chetna Rehabilitation & Research Centre, Bilaspur, Composite Regional Centre, Sundernagar, Mandi, and Government Dental College & Hospital-Shimla.

AIIMS Bilaspur is committed to organize more such camps in future as a part of Institutional Social responsibility and its moto of community participation.
