Theater-an actor’s lifeline

In the 152nd episode of Sahitya Kala Samwad organized by Himachal Kala Sanskrutu Bhasha Academy, the eminent theater, film and TV personality Rohitashv Gour quoted the importance of support to the hindi theater by the state government. He said that theater is a medium to generate career opportunities for the youth as well as provide a platform to the local talent.
He further stated that he started his acting career in Shimla under the guidance of his father Sudarshan Gour who for the growth of local, amateur talent formed the All India Artists Association in Shimla in 1950s.
He emphasized on the significance of theater training in every artist’s life and said that many prominent actors have continued with their love for theater even after having very successful film career. Rohitashv Gour also recalled his plays like Agra Bazaar, Under Secretary, Bade Bhai Sahab etc which were performed in Shimla and its adjoining areas.
Conducting this dialogue Dr. Karam Singh introduced the guest artist and briefed everyone regarding his accomplishments. The future plans of establishment of multi purpose theater and conducting workshops at mass level after the corona crisis was also discussed.
Interacting with Rohitashv Gour , Sanjay Soood stated that Rohitashv initiated his acting career with Shimla theater and later joined the National School of Drama in 1986. His childhood was spent in the Nabha estate and Lower Bazaar, Shimla.
During this interaction the films in which Rohitashv Gour has acted like Munna Bhai MBBS, 3 Idiots, Hasil, Dhoop, Veer Savarkar etc along with his popular tv serials like- Lapata Ganj, Bhabhi ji Ghar Par Hain, Jai Hanuman etc were also mentioned.
