THDC India Limited Celebrated 77th Independence Day

On the occasion of the 77th Independence Day, Shri R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director, THDC India Limited, extended greetings to all the employees of the organization and their family members. Acknowledging the collective efforts and dedication demonstrated by the THDC family towards the development and progress of the company and the nation, Sh. Vishnoi, stressed the importance and role of each and every employee in the development of nation’s power sector and also encouraged everyone for their full cooperation and contribution.

THDC India Limited celebrated the 77th Independence Day at its Corporate office in Rishikesh, as well as across its various Projects and Unit offices on the 15th of August, 2023. Remembering the remarkable contributions of the Indian Freedom Fighters on this momentous occasion, the corporation’s employees were infused with both a profound sense of delight and unwavering patriotism. On this prestigious day, Sh. J. Behera, Director (Finance), hoisted the National Flag at the Corporate Office in Rishikesh, followed by address to all the assembled employees and their family members. At Tehri HPP, Sh. Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), hoisted the National Flag with equal pride and enthusiasm, while in Khurja STPP, Sh. Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical), performed the honour of hoisting the National Flag. The hoisting of National Flags in different Projects/offices of THDCIL by the Management not only upheld the spirit of Independence Day but also exemplified the unity and dedication that define THDC India Limited.

Sh. Behera while addressing the employees stressed on the importance of Independence Day and paid his tribute to the freedom fighters and martyrs during the occasion. He also underlined the role played by THDC in the nation’s development in the power sector. Sh. Behera added that when India gained independence, our GDP was only 2.7 lakh crore rupees. Today, it has grown to an impressive 3.38 trillion USD, and India is on its growth trajectory to become a 5 trillion USD economy before 2030.

Sh. Behera informed that in line with the Updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), the Indian government is committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. Additionally, by 2030, around 50% of our cumulative electric power installed capacity should come from non-fossil fuel-based energy resources. Sh. Behera added that THDC India is also continuing its relentless efforts in the field of renewable energy in line with this.

Addressing the employees of the Tehri project and their family members, Sh. Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel) conveyed his heartfelt gratitude for the privilege of hoisting the national flag from the highest dam in the country. Sh. Singh emphasized that THDC India Limited continues to chart an impressive growth trajectory as it actively contributes to the multifaceted development of our nation. Sh. Singh added that on this gracious occasion we should remember the sacrifices that paved the way for our present, and to recommit ourselves to build a future that honors the legacy of our forefathers.

Addressing the Khurja STPP project employees and their families, Sh. Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical) extended his heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated team members actively contributing to the progress of the nation and emphasized that the progress achieved so far is a testament to the dedication and expertise of every stakeholders, including not only the employees but also their families, whose support is invaluable.

During the occasion, ‘Panch Pran’ pledge was also undertaken in all the Projects and Unit offices of THDCIL.

THDCIL is one of the premier power generators in the country with installed capacity of 1587 MW with commissioning of Tehri Dam & HPP (1000MW), Koteshwar HEP (400MW) in Uttarakhand, Wind Power Projects of 50MW at Patan & 63MW at Dwarka in Gujarat, 24MW Dhukwan Small Hydro Project, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh and 50 MW Solar Power Project at Kasaragod, Kerala to its credit.
