Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil a life-size statue of Swami Vivekananda at the campus of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on November 12 via video conferencing, an official spokesman said on Tuesday.

JNU Vice Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar said, Swami Vivekananda is one of the most beloved intellectuals and spiritual leaders India has been fortunate to produce. He infused the youth with his message of freedom, development, harmony and peace in India, Prof Kumar said.

The spokesman said the philosophy and the mission of Swami Vivekananda beckon the youth even today and India feels proud to have had such a great personality who continues to inspire millions across the world.

The Prime Minister has always said the ideals of Swami Vivekananda are as relevant today as they were during the life of Swami ji.

The Prime Minister has often emphasized that serving the masses and empowering the youth strengthens the country physically, mentally, and spiritually and enhances the global image of the nation.
