ISSF Screened International & National Films On Festival’s Second Day

Shimla, Nov 27 – International Film festival of Shimla on the second day of the three days film festival screened films from international, and national film makers. “Aparat,” a short film by Hasan Najmabadi’s from Iran was screened.
“The land of my father” a documentary film by Matthew Koshmrl from Korea was screened.
A Short Film, “Oonch Neech” by Aryaman Prasad from America, was screened.
“Co-Husband” a documentary film by Ganesh Panday from Nepal was screened.
“Jhat aayi Basant”, a Pahadi Short Film by Pramati Anand was screened. The film was shot in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. The film showcased the struggles of two different women from different backgrounds and how they come up from the struggles in a patriarchal society.
“Laal” a film by Marathi Film maker Sumeet Sanjay Patil was based on creating awareness on the struggles of specially abled menstruating girls. He also Marathi cinema in detail during the open forum with film directors.
Peenakee Singh’s Feature Film Daalcheeni got a good response from the audience. Sweeper a Feature Film by Himachal Pradesh’s film maker Rupinder Verma was screened and was appreciated by the audience.
“Trees in Dreams” a Feature Film by Kerala’s film maker Sohan Lal got a good response from the audience of Shimla. “A Man and his Shoes” a short film made by Late. Abhishek Sharma a Film Maker from Shimla was screened and it was appreciated. One of the highlights was a film by the youngest film festival, master Arjun Lotheta, a third standard student from St. Edward’s 3rd class Film maker. “Period Virus” is a film based on the stigma related to “Periods” and menstruating women, and how it made Arjun curious, intrigued and confused about it. The film ends with a note on the importance of normalizing period talks and how to be aware about it and generalizing talks regarding it.
The unknown number, a short film by Mumbai based film maker, Jatin Chanana. The film is about the plight and void in the life of the people who have lost their loved ones to Corona Virus Pandemic.
Apart from the screening of the films, the festival had an open forum in which film makers and audience had a great time in interacting with the film makers. There were film makers from various countries and states of India and among the audience were the students from various colleges of Shimla and the local viewers.
The three days International Film Festival of Shimla is organized by Himalayan Velocity and Language and culture department of Shimla.
