Community Support Essential to Keep Youth Away from Drugs: Solan DC

Anti-Chitta Awareness Programme Held in Dharampu
Solan, June 18: Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma said that effective public awarreness is the most powerful tool to eradicate drug abuse from society. He was addressing an Anti-Chitta Awareness Programme at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Dharampur.

The Deputy Commissioner expressed concern over the growing use of chitta and other narcotic substances, describing it as a serious threat to the future of young people. He urged students to stay away from drugs and actively participate in education, sports, and constructive activities.

He said drug abuse has reached even remote areas of the state and called for collective efforts by the administration and citizens to tackle the menace. Sharma appealed to the public to report any suspicious drug-related activities to the administration or police, assuring that the identity of informants would be kept confidential.

He added that the district administration, police, health department, and various social organizations are working together to transform the Anti-Chitta campaign into a mass movement. He also urged teachers and parents to closely monitor children’s behaviour, social circles, and habits to identify early signs of drug abuse and prevent them from falling into addiction.
