Yogananda Knowledge Centre holds two-day orientation on digital and e-resources

 The Yogananda Knowledge Centre (YKC), Shoolini University, organised a two-day Library Orientation Programme, to familiarise students with the University’s wide range of digital and e-resources and encourage them to make greater use of academic information available online.

Around 1,200 students from various Schools and Faculties participated in the programme, which provided an overview of major academic platforms and resources, including MyLOFT, Clarivate-ProQuest, JSTOR, LexisNexis and Perlego. Students were introduced to a wide collection of e-books, e-journals, newspapers, magazines, theses and other scholarly resources available through the University.

During the sessions, Mr Vaibhav demonstrated MyLOFT, or ‘Library on Fingertips’, and explained how students can access the University’s subscribed e-resources anytime and from anywhere, including outside the campus. The platform also allows students to discover relevant open-access resources through a single interface. Students can search, curate, and access content by subject and field of study, making academic research more convenient.

Arun from Clarivate ProQuest gave students an overview of scholarly databases and demonstrated their use for academic learning and research. The session introduced students to ProQuest’s collection of approximately 2.5 lakh e-books and highlighted the resources available through other digital platforms. Perlego provides access to more than 1.5 million e-books, while the University’s digital resources also offer access to scholarly journals, newspapers, magazines and theses.

Speaking on the occasion, Director TPS Gill, Yogananda Knowledge Centre (YKC), emphasised the importance of digital library resources in supporting students’ academic learning, independent study and research. He encouraged students to explore the available resources and make them a regular part of their academic work.

Dr Puja Thakur, Librarian, Yogananda Knowledge Centre (YKC), said that the Library regularly organises orientation programmes for both new and existing students. She added that such programmes help students understand the available information resources and use them effectively for their studies and research.

The programme was coordinated by Neelam Thakur. YKC staff members Mr Rakesh Sharma,  Neha Thakur, Pooja Rathore, Archana, Kamlesh and  Nikhlesh actively contributed to the successful conduct of the sessions.
