Workshop on Smart Manufacturing and GeM Portal Held at Rajiv Gandhi Common Facility Centre, Bathu

Una, August 11: A one-day workshop on “Smart Manufacturing and GeM & CPP Portals” was organised at the Rajiv Gandhi Common Facility Centre, Bathu, under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) programme of the Industries Department. The workshop aimed to enhance the competitiveness and market access of MSME units by promoting the adoption of modern technologies and facilitating their participation in government procurement processes.

The workshop was chaired by Gyan Chand Sharma, Manager, District Industries Centre, Una, while Rakesh Kaushal, President of the Haroli Industrial Association, was also present. Around 60 MSME entrepreneurs participated in the programme.

Addressing the participants, Gyan Chand Sharma said that the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal provides MSMEs with a transparent platform for government procurement. He urged all eligible units to register on the portal and take advantage of the opportunities available through government procurement.

Rakesh Kaushal also encouraged more MSMEs to register on the GeM portal. He requested the RAMP team to follow up with interested entrepreneurs and provide them with the necessary technical assistance and support.

During the first session, trainer Tushar Sharma provided an overview of smart manufacturing and explained key concepts related to Industry 4.0, automation, the Internet of Things (IoT), data-driven decision-making and cost optimisation with practical examples.

The second session focused on the GeM and CPP portals and was conducted by Ravi Verma. Participants were briefed on registration procedures, the bidding process, MSME-friendly provisions and timely payment mechanisms.

The RAMP team also provided technical assistance to participating entrepreneurs. As part of the workshop, 10 entrepreneurs were registered on the GeM portal on the spot.
