Women-Led Self Help Group Wins Top Honours at Shimla Pahadi Food Festival

Shimla, June 14: The Shimla Pahadi Food Festival, organized as part of the International Shimla Summer Festival 2026, concluded on Saturday with enthusiastic participation and a celebration of Himachal Pradesh’s rich culinary heritage.
The Nari Shakti Self Help Group from Chhohara block secured the first position and was awarded a cash prize of ₹51,000 along with a trophy by Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap. Anita Sood from Bemloi claimed the second position, while the Nai Disha Self Help Group from Theog secured third place. They received cash prizes of ₹31,000 and ₹21,000 respectively, along with trophies.
The Deputy Commissioner also announced consolation prizes of ₹7,500 each for the remaining participants on behalf of the organizing committee.
Speaking on the occasion, Kashyap said the objective of the festival was to promote traditional and authentic Himachali cuisine. He noted that the event attracted a large number of tourists and local residents who enjoyed a variety of regional delicacies, including Siddu, Patande, red rice with rajma, kachori, kulcha and other traditional dishes.
He said the festival not only helped preserve and promote the region’s culinary traditions but also contributed to tourism and provided a platform for women-led self-help groups to showcase their skills and products.
The Deputy Commissioner congratulated all participating women and assured continued support for organizing similar events in the future.
