West Bengal Media Delegation Calls on Governor Kavinder Gupta

Governor Highlights Media’s Role in Realising the Vision of Viksit Bharat-2047

A 10-member delegation of media professionals from West Bengal today called on Governor Shri Kavinder Gupta at Lok Bhavan, Shimla, as part of an exposure visit organised by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
The delegation, comprising women journalists as well, is visiting Himachal Pradesh from August 31 to September 6. During their visit, the media professionals have travelled to Kullu, Manali and Spiti and interacted with various projects and development initiatives. The delegation shared their experiences of the visit with the Governor.
Interacting with the delegation, Governor Shri Kavinder Gupta said that the country today had strong and effective leadership under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and was progressing rapidly across various sectors. He said India was witnessing significant progress in both the economic and defence sectors, adding that the world was looking at India with a new perspective. The Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat-2047, he said, could be realised through the collective efforts of all sections of society, with the media having a particularly important role to play.
The Governor said that while the media did not belong to any particular political party, it had an important responsibility towards the nation. He emphasised the need for the media to highlight and expose forces working against the national interest and to contribute towards creating greater awareness among citizens.
Referring to West Bengal, the Governor said the State was renowned for its rich culture, traditions and literary heritage. He also highlighted the significant contribution of the people of Bengal to India’s freedom struggle.
The Governor expressed hope that the visit of the West Bengal media delegation to Himachal Pradesh had been enriching and that the visiting journalists would return with pleasant experiences and cherished memories of the State.
Secretary to Governor Shri Sandeep Bhardwaj was also present on the occasion.
