Vikramaditya Singh Criticizes BJP Candidate in Mandi Parliamentary Constituency

2 min read

Mandi, May 27, 2024– Congress candidate and Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh has launched a scathing attack on the BJP candidate, questioning her commitment to Mandi and highlighting her lack of connection with the local issues. Speaking at election rallies in Charakdi, Nihri, and Dehar in Sundernagar constituency, Singh remarked, “A daughter who cannot be faithful to her own family in Bhambla cannot be loyal to Mandi.”

Singh criticized the BJP candidate for ignoring the development works carried out by Congress in Mandi. He pointed out the significant contributions of the Congress government, including the establishment of IIT, a medical college, and the Kiratpur four-lane highway, all of which were initiated by former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh. “The BJP candidate seems unaware of the development in Mandi, as she is mostly busy with her film career in Mumbai and will return there after the elections,” Singh stated.

He contrasted his development-focused agenda with the BJP candidate’s lack of vision, accusing her of trying to rewrite history and making misleading statements about India’s independence and its first Prime Minister. “Her rhetoric is part of BJP’s hidden agenda, and she merely reads the scripts given to her by her directors,” Singh asserted.

Singh emphasized the Congress government’s ongoing commitment to fulfilling its guarantees, such as implementing the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for employees and providing a monthly allowance of Rs 1500 to women. He accused the BJP of being anti-employee and anti-women, opposing both these beneficial schemes.

Outlining his plans if elected as MP, Singh promised to transform Mandi into a smart city, establish a medical college in Kullu, and develop tourism by constructing tunnels at Bhubu and Jalori Jot. He also committed to forming a Himachal Regiment in the army and imposing 100% import duty on apples. Singh pledged to develop Nihri as a tourist destination to create local employment opportunities for the youth.

Former MLA Sohan Lal Thakur credited former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for the development in Sundernagar and predicted accelerated progress in the region if Vikramaditya Singh is elected. “Vikramaditya Singh is the future of the state, and we must send him to the Lok Sabha with a significant majority,” Thakur urged.

Dr. Monica, appointed as an observer by the All India Congress Committee, shared her perspective on the stark differences between the film industry and politics. “Film stars like Kangana Ranaut, who live in their glamorous world, rarely connect with ordinary people,” she said, adding that Ranaut’s language on stage does not reflect the values of Himachal’s daughters. Dr. Monica praised Vikramaditya Singh as a young, experienced, and competent candidate who will be a strong voice for Mandi and the entire state in Parliament.

The Congress campaign in Mandi highlights the stark contrasts between the two candidates, focusing on local development, historical achievements, and a forward-looking vision for the region’s future.
