Vijay Thakur Appointed as President of Himachal Pradesh Badminton Association

Vijay Thakur has been elected as the new President of Himachal Pradesh Badminton Association (HPBA) following the resignation of outgoing President K.K. Sharma due to personal reasons. The decision was taken during the HPBA’s annual general meeting and executive body session held in Shimla.
Thakur, who previously served as the Senior Vice President and is an active member of the Kullu District Badminton Association, has been associated with promoting badminton in Himachal for over two decades.
The meeting also finalized the state badminton calendar:
- U-19 and Senior Championships in Una (7–10 August)
- U-15 & U-17 Championships in Mandi
- U-11 & U-13 Championships in Shimla
- Masters Championship in Kullu
Secretary Ramesh Thakur announced that Lahaul-Spiti District has been granted affiliation with HPBA. The upcoming North Zone Badminton Championship will also be hosted by Himachal in Una.
The meeting appointed Vijay Dhowta as Technical Committee Chairman and Balbir Patial as Head of the Disciplinary Committee. It was resolved that:
- Player entries for state events must be submitted 2 days prior to the event
- A minimum of 6 entries per category is mandatory for a match to be held
