Unveiling Creativity: Three-Day Children’s Literature Festival Concludes
3 min readThe three-day Children’s Literature Festival, organized by the Department of Language and Culture and the Kikli Charitable Trust, concluded today. Geeta Kapoor, President and Managing Director of SJAEN, graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest.
On the final day of the festival, four sessions were held. In the first session, renowned author Meenakshi Chaudhary and young writers Gauri, Atharva, and Shirish reviewed the novels “Lost in Apple Country,” “The Fatal Arrival,” and “The Deadly Kitty.” Professor Neelima Kanwar moderated the session, where students from various schools engaged with the authors, asking questions about book writing and seeking advice on how to start writing. Meenakshi Chaudhary shared insights into the nuances of writing with the students.
The second session featured author Adityakant’s book “High on Kasol,” with young students Deepti Sood, Shareen, and Diya Chandela sharing their reactions and engaging in a discussion with the author. Abhishek Prince moderated the session.
In the third session, renowned children’s literature author Rupa Pai, known for “The Gita for Children” and “The Yoga Sutras,” shared her experiences of writing over 20 books and encouraged young students to explore writing. Principal Professor Meenakshi Fath Fall from Sandhya Mahavidyalaya, Himachal Pradesh University, led an in-depth discussion with Rupa Pai, providing valuable insights into the world of writing for aspiring authors.
In the fourth session, young authors Anshit Bhardwaj and Shagun Ranaut’s books were discussed by Dr. Deji Varma.
Geeta Kapoor, the chief guest, commended the Language and Culture Department and the Kikli Charitable Trust for organizing a successful Children’s Literature Festival. She emphasized the importance of such initiatives in guiding the younger generation towards new directions, especially in the age of mobile and social media.
Towards the end of the program, awards were presented to the winners of various competitions held during the three-day festival. In the speech competition, Divyanshi from Dayanand Public School won the first prize in the junior category, while Shubhangi Sharma secured the second prize. In the senior category, Sparsh Gupta from Saint Edward’s School won the first prize, while Anushka Thakur from Dayanand Public School secured the second prize. The vocabulary skills competition saw Trigul Sharma from Oakland House School winning the first prize in the junior category, while Mansi Gautam from Chepsali School secured the second prize. In the senior category, Sunandani Sharma from Saraswati Paradise International School won the first prize, and Ria from Swarn Public School secured the second prize. The poster-making competition winners included Sanvi Mehta from Saraswati Public School in the junior category and Shagun from Doon Valley Public School in the middle category.
In the senior category, Ananya Choudhary from Saraswati Paradise International School won the first prize, Surya Sharma from Saint Edward’s School secured the second prize, and Sanat Verma from Oakland House School received the consolation prize. The winners of the narrative writing competition were Arav from Saraswati Paradise International School in the junior category, Arya Veer from Saint Edward’s School in the middle category, Siddharth Kumar from Dayanand Public School in the senior category, and Rudraksh Verma from Chepsali School in the consolation category. In the narrative writing competition for the senior category, Shweta from Senior Secondary School, Sanjauli, won the first prize, Nisha secured the second prize, and Parivesh won the consolation prize. In the highest category of narrative writing competition, Himachal Pradesh University Law Institute and Environmental Institute’s Parivesh won the first prize, Arushi won the second prize, and Parivesh won the consolation prize.
