Two days nat’l level bank strike on Jan 30 – 31

Shimla, Jan 13 – The United Forum of Bank Unions (UF BU) has decided to go on strike on January 30 and 31 during a meeting in Mumbai.
UFBU represents most of the bank employees’ and officers’ unions in the country, according to Narendra Chauhan, deputy general secretary of the State Bank of India Officers Association. Bank employees will be on strike on January 30 and 31 for their demands including salary hike and five working days in banks.
Due to the fourth Saturday of the month on January 28 and Sunday holiday on January 29, customers will have to face trouble due to bank closure for four consecutive days. Notably, the UF BU has decided to go on strike after the Indian Banks’
Association (IBA) ignored the demands of the bank employees. Narendra Chauhan, deputy general secretary of the State Bank of India Officers Association, said Friday that UFBU is demanding five working days a week for bank employees, pension updating, abolition of NPS, wage hike, new recruitment of employees and immediate discussion on the demand letter. But IBA’s attitude towards it is negative. As a protest, employees of all public sector banks across the country will be on strike on January 30 and 31.
