Three-Day ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat – Third Destination Himachal Expo 2026’ Concludes in Chamba
Chamba, October 25: The three-day mega exhibition, Atmanirbhar Bharat – Third Destination Himachal Expo 2026, concluded on Sunday at the historic Chowgan Ground in Chamba, showcasing scientific innovations, government welfare schemes and the region’s traditional handicrafts.
Chamba SDM Chirag Sharma attended the closing ceremony as chief guest and inspected stalls set up by various ministries, government departments and scientific institutions. He reviewed the technologies, innovations and public welfare initiatives on display and honoured representatives for their outstanding presentations.
Addressing the gathering, Sharma thanked the organisers for bringing a national-level event to the remote district. He said such platforms were valuable for promoting local talent, artisans and products while providing them with greater national exposure.
He added that the exhibition had helped raise awareness of government schemes and encouraged people to explore the benefits available to them. Displays by ISRO and other scientific institutions, he said, also helped foster scientific curiosity, innovative thinking and a scientific outlook among students.
The exhibition featured participation from around 20 Union government ministries and prominent institutions, including ISRO, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the Ministry of Earth Sciences and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
Special emphasis was placed on promoting Chamba’s traditional crafts, including the Chamba thal, Chamba rumal and Chamba chappal, highlighting the importance of preserving local heritage and supporting traditional artisans.
The SDM was welcomed at the venue by the organisers, Avishkar Exhibition, and felicitated with a shawl, cap and memento. Cultural performances were also presented during the closing ceremony.
Avishkar Exhibition representative Mani Tiwari expressed gratitude to Governor Kavinder Gupta, patron Dr. Rajiv Bharadwaj, Chamba Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal and all those who supported the event.
