THDC India Limited Enters Strategic Partnership for Renewable Energy Development in Karnataka

Rishikesh, November 9: In a significant move towards sustainable energy, THDC India Limited, under the leadership of Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director, signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) and Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) on November 9, 2023, in Bangalore. The collaboration aims to develop Renewable Energy projects in the state of Karnataka.
The MoUs were signed for a diverse range of projects, including ground-mounted, floating solar projects, and hybrid projects, encompassing Pumped Storage Projects. The cumulative capacity of these initiatives is approximately 3270 MW, reflecting a substantial commitment to clean and sustainable energy.
The ceremony witnessed the esteemed presence of Sh. K. J. George, the Hon’ble Minister of Energy, Government of Karnataka, highlighting the strategic importance of this alliance. Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, CMD, THDCIL, expressed the company’s dedication to clean energy and emphasized the positive impact this collaboration will have on the energy landscape of the region.
The MoU signing ceremony saw the participation of key representatives, including Sh. Gaurav Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary, Energy & MD KPCL; Sh. K.P. Rudrappaiah, MD KREDL; and Sh. Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical) from THDC India Limited. Notable figures such as Sh. Vijay Kumar, Special Officer Coordination, Sh. Sandeep Singhal, CGM (NCR), and Sh. Mallikarjuna, DGM, were also present.
Currently, THDCIL stands as one of the premier power generators in the country, boasting an installed capacity of 1587 MW. The company’s portfolio includes notable projects such as Tehri Dam & HPP (1000 MW) and Koteshwar HEP (400 MW) in Uttarakhand, Wind Power Projects in Gujarat, Dhukwan Small Hydro Project in Uttar Pradesh, and a Solar Power Project in Kasaragod, Kerala. This collaboration in Karnataka further solidifies THDCIL’s position as a leader in the renewable energy sector.
