Suresh Kashyap Urges Rail Connectivity for Paonta Sahib–Kala Amb Industrial Belt in Lok Sabha

Shimla, July 30: BJP MP Suresh Kashyap raised the long-pending Paonta Sahib–Kala Amb rail line issue in the Lok Sabha, emphasizing its strategic importance for the pharmaceutical hub, which ranks among the top in Asia. He highlighted that despite being a major industrial zone, the region still lacks railway connectivity.

Kashyap informed the House that the preliminary survey of the Jagadhri–Paonta Sahib rail link (62 km) was completed in 2022 and submitted to the Railway Board. He urged the Union Railway Minister to expedite the implementation of the project for the benefit of industries and residents.

He also shared updates on four new railway line projects costing ₹13,168 crore under different stages in Himachal Pradesh. Of the 255 km, 61 km have been commissioned, with ₹6,225 crore already spent. He also mentioned the Bhanupalli–Bilaspur–Beri and Chandigarh–Baddi projects, where work is underway, though state cost-sharing delays remain.
