Sukhhu Promotes Dehra’s Development Agenda Amidst Campaigning

Dehra, June 29: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhhu attended a program organized by the Bar Association Dehra and campaigned for Congress candidate Kamlesh Thakur. He emphasized that Dehra, which once had the slogan ‘Dehra No One’s, Now Belongs to Us’. He assured that the state government will leave no stone unturned in the development of Dehra.

The state government is embarking on constructing an international-level zoo costing ₹650 crores in Dehra, which will emerge as a new tourism center on the map of Kangra district, offering tourists world-class amenities alongside safari experiences. He mentioned that the purpose of establishing the zoo in Banakhandi of the constituency is to boost tourism, allowing visitors to stay here for several days and enjoy the region’s tourism spots.

Furthermore, the state government is investing heavily in adventurous activities at Pong Dam to boost the economy. He added that with the increase in tourism in the region, local youth will find opportunities for employment and self-employment, leading to economic prosperity in the area. He expressed optimism that Dehra’s fate is on the rise.

CM Sukhhu also announced the opening of the Dehra Police Superintendent’s office and the SDM (PWD) office, which has been approved by the cabinet. The state government is considering opening several other government offices in Dehra, announcements for which will be made after the elections. The model for Dehra’s development will be discussed across all sections in the coming times.

He highlighted that the construction work for the Central University has already begun, which was stalled for years during previous governments due to forest clearances. He criticized independent MLAs who demonstrated outside the assembly to force resignations for not sitting with BJP under pressure, saying they betrayed the sentiments of Dehra’s people for personal gain.

CM Sukhhu stated that the upcoming by-elections are a fight between honesty and dishonesty and a battle to strengthen democracy. He reassured that the Congress government is safe with 38 MLAs in the assembly and will complete its term, setting new benchmarks of development across the state. He emphasized the government’s efforts towards economic enhancement, promoting green energy alongside tourism. He highlighted the initiation of a 32 MW solar energy absorption project in Una district and a 10 MW solar energy project in Aghalour, all aimed at making the state self-reliant.
