Students Should Embrace Healthy Competition Through Sports: Sanjay Awasthi

Darlaghat, December 1, 2024 – MLA of Arki constituency, Sanjay Awasthi, emphasized the importance of sports in fostering mental focus, physical fitness, and perseverance while addressing the closing ceremony of a two-day volleyball tournament organized by Dharmik Yuva Club Sports in Darlaghat, Solan district.
The tournament witnessed the participation of 16 men’s teams and 6 women’s teams. Awasthi encouraged players to internalize healthy competition to navigate life’s challenges without despair. He underscored that every individual possesses unique talent, which, when recognized timely, can lead to unparalleled success. He also urged the players to uphold moral values alongside academics and sports, highlighting that youth are pivotal to the nation’s development.
He praised the Himachal Pradesh government’s efforts under Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in enhancing sports infrastructure and increasing allowances for players to boost their morale and ensure a worry-free future. He also addressed the pressing issue of substance abuse, calling for collective efforts to combat it and rehabilitate affected youth.
Awasthi announced a grant of ₹21,000 from his discretionary fund to the Dharmik Yuva Club and assured support for elevating the tournament’s standards in the future.
In the men’s category, Bilaspur emerged victorious by defeating Team Toon-B, while in the women’s category, DYC Darlaghat triumphed over ITI Darlaghat.
