Students Are Greatest Asset of Society and Nation: Sanjay Awasthi

Meritorious Students Felicitation Ceremony Held at DCM School Bakhalag

Solan, August 29, 2026: Arki MLA Sanjay Awasthi said the state government is giving priority to the overall development of students by encouraging them to participate in sports and other creative activities alongside academics.

Addressing the Meritorious Students Felicitation Ceremony at DCM School, Bakhalag, Awasthi said students are the greatest asset of society and the nation. He emphasized that providing the right direction and opportunities to young talent is a collective responsibility of parents, teachers and society.

He said felicitating meritorious students not only boosts their confidence but also motivates other students to work hard and perform better. In the changing educational environment, students need to be exposed not only to conventional education but also to modern technology, science, sports, arts and creative activities.

Awasthi urged students to set clear goals and pursue them with dedication and discipline, while bringing pride to their parents, school and region. He said the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, is continuously working to strengthen the education system and provide better facilities to students.

He stressed that good academic scores are certainly an achievement, but good values, positive thinking, discipline and a sense of responsibility towards society are equally important for success in life. He also urged students to stay away from social evils such as drug abuse and adopt a healthy and positive lifestyle.

Awasthi felicitated 520 meritorious students from 70 government and private schools for their outstanding performance in academics and sports, presenting them with awards and certificates. He wished them a bright and successful future.

He also announced a contribution of ₹31,000 to the organising committee.

During the programme, the MLA also heard the grievances of local residents and directed the concerned departmental officers to ensure their resolution on priority.
