Camp to Provide Detailed Information on Constitutional Rights and Welfare Schemes

Una, March 2: The Himachal Pradesh State Scheduled Caste Commission will organize a mega public awareness camp on March 5 at Samoorkalan in Kutlehar Assembly constituency of Una district. Commission Chairman and former minister Kuldeep Kumar Dhiman stated that the primary objective of the camp is to educate members of the Scheduled Caste community about their constitutional rights and to provide comprehensive information about various government welfare schemes.

The camp will be held from 10:00 AM onwards at the temple ground near Lata Mangeshkar Kala Kendra, Samoorkalan.

Dhiman reviewed preparations during a meeting with officials from Una and Bangana sub-divisions at the Commission office. Members Advocate Vijay Dogra, Advocate Digvijay Malhotra, Advocate Shalini, and officers from various departments were present at the meeting.

He noted that although the state government has implemented numerous welfare schemes for the Scheduled Caste community, lack of awareness often prevents eligible beneficiaries from availing full benefits. The Commission aims to ensure that information about rights and schemes reaches the last mile and that procedures for accessing benefits are made simple and transparent.

The Chairman further informed that such awareness camps will be organized across the state in a phased manner, with the Samoorkalan event marking the beginning of a broader outreach campaign. On-the-spot guidance regarding eligibility and application procedures will also be provided.

Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Dhiman said that under his leadership, the state-level office of the Commission was established in Una district. He emphasized that the Commission remains committed to safeguarding the rights of the Scheduled Caste community and ensuring effective implementation of welfare schemes.

He appealed to Panchayat representatives, social organizations, and members of the SC community to participate in large numbers and benefit from the camp.
