In a two-day teaching session held at the Buddhist Temple in McLeodganj, Tibet’s spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, emphasized the importance of fostering love and compassion towards others. He conveyed that individuals should not harbor hatred but should cultivate feelings of love and consider the welfare of others.
The Dalai Lama drew a parallel between the bond of a child with its mother before and after birth. Similarly, he encouraged people to maintain feelings of love for others consistently, just as a child feels connected to its mother before and after birth.
At 88 years old, the Dalai Lama announced his intention to continue his service to the teachings and principles of Lord Buddha for another 20 years. He stressed the need for individuals to refrain from causing harm to others, particularly during these challenging times. He expressed profound sadness when witnessing the suffering of underprivileged or distressed individuals.
During the session, the Dalai Lama shared a story from Bodh Gaya. He recounted how he had requested chocolates from Lord Buddha, and in response, Lord Buddha blessed him with both chocolates and his blessings. The Dalai Lama clarified that it was not a dream but a profound experience, highlighting his close connection to the teachings of Lord Buddha.
He declared his unwavering commitment to following the guidance and orders of Lord Buddha, instilling the essence of compassion and love in his teachings. Whenever he travels to other countries, he delivers lectures on Buddha’s teachings. He urged everyone to live in happiness and contentment and to practice Buddhist meditation diligently, allowing one to gradually eliminate false choices and become a better person.
