Shimla, Dec 24:
Shyamala Educational and Social Welfare Trust organised the Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar Matru Naman programme at Gaiety Theatre, Shimla, honouring 25 mothers from across Himachal Pradesh who nurtured their children through struggle, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication. The event celebrated mothers who, despite social, economic, and personal challenges, enabled their children to achieve excellence in sports, education, arts, public service, entrepreneurship, and social work.
Addressing the gathering, Trust Patron Prof. Nitin Vyas said that no great achievement is possible without a mother’s sacrifice, adding that the world celebrates heroes, but Shyamala Trust chose to honour those who create heroes. Senior journalist Rubika Liyaqat praised the initiative, calling it a rare and powerful tribute to mothers whose silent struggles shape society and the nation.
The programme featured mothers of national-level sportspersons, artists, professionals, social activists, entrepreneurs, and women who rebuilt families after tragedy. The initiative highlighted the values of resilience, dignity, and motherhood as the foundation of social progress.
