Shimla to Award ₹1 Crore for Model Solar Revenue Village under PM Surya Ghar Scheme
A district-level review meeting for the “PM Surya Ghar – Free Electricity Scheme” was chaired by Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, discussing incentives for installing solar panels. Residents can receive up to 60% subsidy for installations, with nearly 13,000 applications already received in Shimla district. Under the scheme, villages with over 2,000 residents will compete to be named the “Model Solar Energy Village,” with a reward of ₹1 crore for the winner. Local bodies will promote rooftop installations, offering an incentive of ₹1,000 per rooftop panel. Additionally, government buildings with high electricity consumption will be surveyed for solar panel installations.
