Shimla Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Posting Communally Sensitive Content on Social Media

Shimla, June 5: Shimla Police have arrested Yudhveer Singh Bains in connection with a case involving the alleged circulation of objectionable social media content that authorities say could disturb communal harmony and public order.

According to police, a complaint was lodged at Baluganj Police Station alleging that Bains had uploaded a video on Facebook containing remarks targeting a particular community and content capable of creating animosity between different religious groups. The complainant expressed concern that the material could adversely affect law and order and communal peace.

During the preliminary investigation and digital analysis, police reportedly found that the accused had been regularly sharing similar content on social media platforms. Based on the available evidence, an FIR (No. 108/2026) was registered at Police Station West, Shimla, under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and a detailed investigation was initiated.

Police stated that despite being served notices to join the investigation, the accused allegedly failed to cooperate and attempted to obstruct the investigation process, leading to the addition of further legal provisions in the case.

Following the collection of evidence, Yudhveer Singh Bains was arrested on June 5, 2026. Police said the investigation is ongoing.

Shimla Police also noted that the accused has been named in previous criminal cases registered in Una and Shimla districts.

The district police reiterated that strict legal action will be taken against any individual found attempting to disturb social harmony, public peace, or law and order through misuse of social media platforms.
