Vipasha Srivastava, from Shimla, has secured admission to the prestigious Government Medical College, Sector 32, Chandigarh, in M.Phil (Clinical Psychology) by topping the tough All India Entrance Examination for the same.
Since childhood, Vipasha dreamt of becoming a psychologist. She passed her 10th grade from Dayanand Public School and 12th grade from Loreto Convent Tara Hall, Shimla, with top grades. She then completed her B.A. (Honors) in Psychology from Punjab University, Chandigarh, and her M.A. in Psychology from Delhi University with excellent marks.
Chandigarh’s Government Medical College, Sector 32, has only 7 seats for M.Phil (Clinical Psychology), out of which 6 are reserved for candidates with a Master’s degree from Punjab University. There is only one seat for the general category, and students from all over the country apply for it.
Vipasha’s mother, Mradula Srivastava, is the Deputy General Manager at Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN), and her father, Prof. Ajay Srivastava, recently retired from Himachal Pradesh University. They believe that daughters should be free to choose their goals, and parents should not impose their desires on them. If given the opportunity, daughters can scale great heights.
