Shimla Gets 3 New Lifts and 2 Overbridges Under ₹8.26 Cr Smart City Project
Shimla Aug 28 : Ministers Anirudh Singh and Vikramaditya Singh inaugurated three lifts and two overbridges between Vikasnagar and Brockhurst in Shimla on Thursday. The ₹8.26 crore project, developed under the Smart City Mission, aims to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity.
The new lift system will reduce the 25-minute commute to just 5 minutes by covering a vertical distance of 110 meters and a horizontal stretch of 160 meters. Operated by a single vendor for the next 5 years, the fare has been set at ₹10 for Phase 1 and ₹20 for the full journey. Each lift can carry up to 20 passengers at a time.
The launch event was attended by local leaders and officials, including Shimla Mayor, the Municipal Commissioner, and RRTS officials.
