Shimla DC Stresses Transparent Banking Services

1.99 Lakh Jan Dhan Accounts Opened

Shimla Sept 22 : Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap chaired the District Level Quarterly Review and Advisory Committee meeting, urging banks to ensure transparent and efficient services for the public. He emphasized timely delivery of government schemes to beneficiaries and realistic target-setting to minimize gaps.

So far, 1,99,903 accounts have been opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana in the district. Registrations under social security schemes include 1,47,023 in PMJJBY, 3,47,190 in PMSBY, and 75,145 in APY. Additionally, 233 self-help groups received loans worth ₹5.85 crore up to June 2025. The CD ratio has improved from 44.50% to 45.82%, with ₹1,449.50 crore disbursed (12.78% of the annual credit target). Agriculture advances rose by 0.83%, MSME by 4.33%, while education loans dropped by 0.27%. Housing loans saw a sharp rise of 27.54%, reaching ₹1,315 crore.

In this quarter, rural banks conducted 729 financial literacy camps, while training programs in bee-keeping, tailoring, beauty parlors, and small businesses benefited 194 trainees. A special campaign will be launched from October to December 2025 for settlement of unclaimed deposits.
