Shimla DC Reviews District Banking Services, Stresses Better Outreach & Financial Inclusion

Shimla, June 30, 2025:

Deputy Commissioner Shimla, Anupam Kashyap, chaired the District Level Review and Advisory Committee meeting today at the Savings Bhawan auditorium to assess the progress of various banking schemes. He urged banks to improve services and ensure realistic goal setting to minimize gaps between targets and achievements.

Under the Annual Credit Plan for FY 2024-25, the district has achieved 73.40% of its ₹8208.93 crore target by March 2025. Sector-wise achievements include 61.97% in agriculture, 92.58% in MSMEs, and 85.10% in other priority sectors.

The DC directed officials to extend maximum benefits of social security schemes. As of March 31, 2025, 199,963 Jan Dhan accounts were opened. Additionally, over 3.48 lakh people enrolled under PMSBY, 1.49 lakh under PMJJBY, and 73,755 under the Atal Pension Yojana.

A total of ₹13.12 crore was disbursed to 652 Self-Help Groups, and ₹17.45 crore was sanctioned under PMEGP through 189 cases to boost rural livelihoods.

He emphasized timely repayment of Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) and revealed an outstanding amount of ₹3304.12 crore across 93,745 KCC accounts. Approximately 736 financial literacy camps were held in the last quarter, and RSETI trained 1,078 youth across 34 batches in income-generating skills.

The meeting saw participation from RBI, NABARD, bank representatives, and department heads.
