Shimla DC Anupam Kashyap Chairs District Vigilance and Public Distribution Committee Meeting

Shimla, June 16, 2025 – A meeting of the District Vigilance and Public Distribution Committee was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Shimla, Anupam Kashyap. Officials from the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department and nominated committee members participated.

The DC emphasized timely and quality ration delivery under the public distribution system (PDS) and instructed for regular monitoring of fair price shops. He called for strengthening grievance redressal mechanisms to ensure transparency and accountability.

Key issues discussed included stock availability, ration cardholders’ concerns, and quality checks. The DC highlighted that under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), a total of 269,425 people in Shimla district have been covered so far, while 167,365 people are yet to be included.

Applications for 22 fair price shop allotments were reviewed, and eight new shop proposals were also discussed in detail.
