Several Development Projects to be Ready by Next Year’s End – Bhardwaj
2 min readShimla, Dec. 3 – Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj on Thursday reviewed the Urban Development and Town & Country planning departments.
The minister asked the officials to speed up the projects and ensure deadlines. He said the delay will not be tolerated and contractors not meeting the deadline will have to face the music.
During the review of different schemes of the Urban Development department, Minister asked officials to achieve the targets in stipulated times. Bhardwaj said, “The state government headed by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur is determined to successfully implement these schemes. I have reviewed the schemes. Officials were asked to come up with six months target and they have been directed to ensure that deadlines are met. All these schemes will be reviewed fortnightly from my office.”
The minister also asked the officials to improve and enhance the public delivery system. While reviewing the smart city project for Shimla, he directed officials to remove bottlenecks. “I am sure we will have several development projects ready by the end of next year,” he said.
The minister said Rs. 304cr has been allocated to Shimla and Kullu under the AMRUT mission and projects worth Rs 86.40cr have been completed so far and the rest are under implementation.
While reviewing the Prime Minister Aawas Yojana (PMAY) ambitious scheme of Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi, Urban Development Minister said housing for all is the dream of the prime minister and our government is endeavored to achieve it. “We will be able to provide housing for all by 2022,” he said, adding that 1800 houses were approved in the last one year of which more than 1000 have been constructed so far.
While reviewing the Mukhya Mantri Shahari Ajeevika Guarantee Yojana—launched by the state in the lines of Urban MNREGA. “More than 3000 people have been given jobs under this scheme. Directions have been given to popularize this scheme and provide jobs to more people,” he said, adding, “We have not sought additional budget for this scheme but Urban Local bodies have been managing the finances.”
About PM SVANidhi scheme, the minister said around 1200 people have been sanctioned with assistance under this scheme, of which nearly Rs. 1cr has been disbursed among 903 beneficiaries. In Shimla, 220 people have been benefitted while 100 applications are under consideration.
The minister reviewed Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Transformation (AMRUT), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Urban Livelihood Mission (DAY-NULM), Rajiv Awas Yojna (RAY), Pradhan Mantri Street Vendors Aatma Nirbhar Nidhi (pmsvanidhi), Swachh Bharat Mission.
