2 min read

Shimla, 02 March –
In a major initiative aimed at providing transparent and swift administrative action, the Himachal Pradesh government launched Revenue Lok Adalats to resolve various land and revenue-related issues. This program began in October 2023, with Lok Adalats being organized on the last two days of every month at the Tehsil and Sub-Tehsil level.

These Lok Adalats are designed to offer resolutions for cases like mutation, partition, demarcation, and revenue entry rectifications right at the doorstep of the people, in areas selected by local communities. According to Sanjeet Sharma, District Revenue Officer, Shimla, this is the first time in India that any state government has taken the lead to solve long-pending revenue cases in a mission mode.

31,080 Cases Resolved So Far
Since the launch of this initiative, a total of 31,080 revenue cases have been resolved in Shimla district from October 2023 to January 2025. These include:
✔ 27,249 cases of Mutation
✔ 623 cases of Partition
✔ 2,713 cases of Demarcation
✔ 495 cases of Revenue Entry Rectification

Anupam Kashyap, Deputy Commissioner Shimla, stated, “This initiative is giving people in the district quick solutions to their problems, and they are enthusiastically participating. This initiative ensures that long-pending cases are resolved in a time-bound manner.” He also urged citizens to participate in future Lok Adalats to reduce the number of pending revenue cases to zero.

24% Land KYC Completed in Shimla
In line with the government’s efforts, landowners’ KYC (Know Your Customer) and Aadhaar seeding are progressing at a rapid pace in Shimla district. As of now, 1,37,721 out of 1,97,207 accounts have been seeded, marking about 70% completion. The total number of landowners in the district is 7,35,977, with 1,73,820 having completed their Aadhaar seeding, which is approximately 24%.

This Aadhaar seeding helps link land records to Aadhaar cards, ensuring transparency in land ownership and reducing land disputes. It also enables beneficiaries to access government schemes more effectively.

Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap urged all landowners to complete the Aadhaar seeding process at their nearest Patwar Khana to avoid future disputes and ensure updated government records.
