1 min read

In a case of alleged illegal occupation of government land, the chairperson of a panchayat in the Bhoranj development block has been removed from office. The allegations were substantiated, leading the Election Officer to cancel the election of the concerned panchayat head. Despite challenging this decision initially with the Deputy Commissioner in Hamirpur, followed by the District Magistrate in Mandi, and subsequently in the State High Court, the panchayat head has not found relief.

In a related case, the election of the panchayat head from a panchayat in the Hamirpur block has also been canceled. A complaint was filed stating that this individual was interfering in panchayat affairs. An investigation into this matter will now be conducted.

Furthermore, the Election Officer in Hamirpur, Shashi Bala, mentioned that a person had challenged the election of the panchayat head of a panchayat in the Bhoranj development block through a petition. The allegations of illegal occupation of government land against the elected head have been found to be valid in the investigation process. As a result, the election of the concerned panchayat head has been canceled.

They had appealed to the Deputy Commissioner in Hamirpur, the District Magistrate in Mandi, and the High Court. However, the petition has been dismissed based on the report from the Revenue Department.
