Shimla, Jan 7 – Justice Ravi Vijaykumar Malimath today assumed the charge of office as Judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court. He was administered oath of office by the Chief Justice L.Narayana Swamy in a simple but impressive ceremony held in the High Court of H.P. Before this, Justice R.V.Malimath was serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Uttarakhand.
On this occasion, Judges of H.P. High Court, Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Justice Sureshwar Thakur, Justice Vivek Singh Thakur, Justice Ajay Mohan Goel, Justice Sandeep Sharma, Justice Chander Bhusan Barowalia, Justice Anoop Chitkara and Justice Jyotsana Rewal Dua were also present.
The Registrar General, Virender Singh conducted the proceedings.
Justice Malimath was born on 25-05-1962. He enrolled as an Advocate on 28-01-1987 at Bangalore and practiced in Constitutional, Civil, Criminal, Labour and Service matters, mainly at Karnataka High Court, Bangalore. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Karnataka on 18-02-2008 and permanent Judge on 17-02-2010. He was transferred to High Court of Uttarakhand and assumed office of a Judge of High Court of Uttarakhand on 05.03.2020. He was appointed as Acting Chief Justice of High Court of Uttarakhand w.e.f. 28.07.2020.
Advocate General Ashok Sharma, Chairman of Bar Council of Himachal Pradesh Ramakant Sharma, President of the H.P. High Court Bar Association N.S.Chandel, Additional Solicitor General of India Rajesh Sharma and Dr.Baldev Singh, Registrar(Vigilance) were also present on the occasion. Adhering to the instructions issued for containment of the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, only a limited number of persons were present on the occasion and the others joined the oath ceremony proceedings on virtual platform.
