Rajbhasha Fortnight Competitions Organized at Gaiety Theatre, Shimla

Shimla, Sept 29, 2025 – On the occasion of Rajbhasha Pakhwada-2025, the Department of Language and Culture, Shimla, organized district-level inter-school competitions at the historic Gothic Hall of Gaiety Theatre. Events included speech, poetry recitation, and quizzes on Rajbhasha and folk culture, with enthusiastic participation from students across the district.

The closing ceremony was graced by Jyoti Rana, Additional District Magistrate (Protocol), Shimla, who awarded winners with cash prizes, certificates, and mementoes. She encouraged students to respect their mother tongue while also learning new languages, highlighting the importance of Hindi in national integration.

The competitions began under the auspices of noted litterateur S.R. Harnot, while jury members included eminent writers and linguists such as Gupteshwar Nath Upadhyay, Atma Ranjan, and Dr. Satya Narayan Snehi.

In the speech contest on “The Pride of India – Hindi” and “Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Hindi,” Ramanpreet (Rohru) secured first place, followed by Nibha Steta (Portmore) and Simran (Sunni). In the quiz, Chetna Bhandari (Dhalli) stood first, while in poetry recitation, Nandini Kumari (Sambhota Tibetan School) topped the event.
