Protests Against Cases Filed on BJP Leaders and Journalists

1 min read

Dharamshala, Dec 19 : The BJP held a protest in the Tapovan Assembly Complex, led by Jairam Thakur, against the FIRs filed on BJP legislators and journalists following the “Jangli Murga” controversy during the Chief Minister’s visit to Tikkar, Kupvi. Demonstrators carried symbolic roosters to highlight what they termed the government’s authoritarian actions.

Thakur criticized the government for targeting media personnel and opposition leaders instead of taking action against those responsible for serving or consuming the allegedly controversial dish. He demanded an immediate withdrawal of the cases, calling them an attempt to silence criticism and suppress dissent.

“Media representatives were invited by the CM’s team and given the menu. Yet, instead of addressing the actual issue, the government is filing cases against journalists and opposition leaders,” he remarked.

The protest reflects the BJP’s broader concerns over alleged governmental overreach and failure to address key public grievances.
