Private schools should also contribute towards HPV vaccination: Gandhwa Rathore

All girls in the age group of 14-15 years should be vaccinated by May 31st.

Hamirpur, May 25. Deputy Commissioner Gandharva Rathore has appealed to the heads and other teachers of all high and senior secondary schools in the district, as well as all private schools, to motivate all girls in the age group of 14-15 years who have missed the HPV vaccination, to get vaccinated. If there are any misconceptions about this vaccine among the girls or their parents, they should immediately resolve them. If they need counseling, they should also contact the health department. All girls in this age group should be vaccinated with the HPV vaccine by May 31.
While presiding over an awareness programme organised at Him Academy Senior Secondary School Vikasnagar on Monday, Gandharva Rathod said that one dose of HPV vaccine can protect girls from cervical cancer for life. He informed that in the vaccination campaign started on 29 March in Hamirpur district, a target has been set to vaccinate around 2967 girls of this age group. So far 1318 girls have got this vaccine in the district. On Monday also 19 girls got this vaccine in the district.
On this occasion, Block Health Officer Dr. Ramesh Rattu also gave detailed information about HPV vaccine to the girl students and teachers.
