Political Earthquake Looms After BJP Victory: Jairam Thakur
2 min readHamirpur, July 4, 2024: In a fiery address at a rally supporting BJP candidate Ashish Sharma, opposition leader Jairam Thakur lambasted the Sukhu government, accusing it of setting a record for lying over the past year and a half. Thakur declared that the government has done nothing but make empty promises, with no tangible achievements to show for itself, leaving it with no legitimate grounds to seek votes.
Thakur pointed out the duplicity in the government’s claims, noting that in Nalagarh, they promise that the honorarium has been distributed in Dehra, and in Dehra, they claim it’s been given in Hamirpur. He highlighted the frustration of Dehra residents, who openly stated in front of the Chief Minister that they haven’t received any honorarium. “How long can the government sustain itself on lies?” Thakur questioned, asserting that the public is ready to call the government’s bluff in this by-election.
He confidently predicted that just as the BJP won all four Lok Sabha seats, it will also triumph in these by-elections, sparking a political earthquake in the state. Thakur claimed that the Congress government is on borrowed time, with the public rising against its autocratic rule. The overwhelming support for BJP candidates in this election is a testament to the people’s complete rejection of the Congress government. He reminded the crowd of the BJP’s resounding victories in previous elections and predicted another landslide win for the BJP candidates.
Thakur also accused the Sukhu government of rampant corruption and failing law and order, stating that the mafia is thriving under government protection, with scandals emerging daily. He alleged that the entire state machinery has been deployed against BJP leaders and candidates, focusing on harassment rather than governance. Thakur assured the people that this autocratic era is nearing its end. He addressed election rallies in Sasan, Dhane, Baloh, and Didwin Tikker in the Hamirpur assembly constituency.
