Solan, Sept 9 – BJP Mahila Morcha State President Daisy Thakur hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent reforms in Goods and Services Tax (GST), calling them a “historic gift” to India’s middle-class families. She said that unlike the pre-2014 era when multiple taxes burdened common households, GST rationalization and rate cuts have now brought relief to every family.
Thakur highlighted that with India’s consumption at ₹202 lakh crore, even a 10% boost due to GST reforms could generate an additional ₹20 lakh crore in production and create new jobs. She added that these measures will strengthen savings, investment, and consumption, fueling economic growth and bringing happiness to households.
She further noted that the Prime Minister has consistently supported the middle class, citing earlier income tax reforms that provided relief up to ₹12 lakh income. Now, through GST simplification, families benefit from lower taxes on essentials and appliances ranging from food and clothing to solar panels, refrigerators, televisions, dishwashers, and mobile phones.
“This landmark step by PM Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman ensures reduced tax burdens, simplified processes, and positive impacts on the lives of 140 crore Indians,” she said.
