Nominations can be withdrawn till 3 pm on May 15, after which election symbols will be allotted.
Mandi, May 14. District Election Officer (Panchayat) and Deputy Commissioner Mandi Apoorva Devgan said that the process of withdrawal of nominations for the Panchayati Raj Institution elections in Mandi district is ongoing. On Thursday, the first day of withdrawal, a total of 236 candidates withdrew their nomination papers.
He said that nomination papers were filed by candidates for the elections to the posts of Zila Parishad, Panchayat Samiti, Gram Panchayat Pradhan, Up-Pradhan, and Ward Member, to be held on May 26, 28, and 30. After scrutiny of the nomination papers, the process of withdrawal of nominations is now underway.
The Deputy Commissioner said that 2 candidates for the post of Zilla Parishad member, 11 candidates for the post of Panchayat Samiti member, 55 candidates for the post of Gram Panchayat Pradhan, 36 candidates for the post of Deputy Pradhan and 132 candidates for the post of Gram Panchayat Ward member have withdrawn their nomination papers.
He said that candidates can withdraw their nomination papers till 3 pm on May 15. Election symbols will be allotted to the remaining candidates in the fray immediately after the withdrawal process is completed.
