Overall development of Chamba assembly constituency top priority: Neeraj Nayyair
Chamba, September 9: Chamba MLA Neeraj Nayyair said the overall development of the Chamba Assembly constituency remains his top priority, with work underway on several projects aimed at strengthening infrastructure and improving civic amenities.
Addressing a programme at Children’s Park, Chaugan No. 4, he performed the foundation stone-laying and bhoomi pujan for development works worth around Rs 65 lakh. These included reconstruction and beautification of the Children’s Park, beautification of Chaugan No. 3 and repair and beautification of footpaths in Chaugan Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5. He also performed bhoomi pujan for beautification of a park at Shri Lakshmi Narayan Temple.
Nayyair said administrative approval of Rs 25 crore had been secured for Bhagot parking, with Rs 10 crore already released. Construction of the proposed multi-storey parking facility at the old bus stand is also progressing, while a proposal is being prepared to increase its capacity from four to six floors.
He said Rs 50 lakh had been released as the first instalment for upgrading the Pakkatal-Balu link road towards the new Sarol campus of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College. The total estimated cost of the road improvement work is Rs 1.25 crore.
Nayyair also said most of the construction work at Chamba helipad had been completed and heli-taxi services would be started soon. Steps were also being taken to shift NH-154A along the Ravi river towards Bharmour to ease traffic pressure in Chamba town and the temple area.
During the programme, the MLA distributed 10 streetlights each for all wards of Chamba Municipal Council through the respective councillors from his MLA Local Area Development Fund.
