Shimla, June 1: The International Shimla Summer Festival 2026 will feature a series of literary events, including Hindi poetry sessions, Pahari poetry gatherings, and a special ghazal symposium, bringing together more than 100 writers from across Himachal Pradesh.
Himalaya Sahitya Sanskriti Evam Paryavaran Manch President and noted author S.R. Harnot thanked Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap and the Summer Festival Organising Committee for providing a platform to literary voices under the banners of “Shyamla Kavi Sammelan” and “Shyamla Mushaira.”
According to the schedule, around 65 poets will participate in the Hindi Kavi Sammelan on June 8, while more than 30 Pahari poets will take part in an all-day poetry session on June 9. A special ghazal event featuring nearly 20 Urdu poets from different parts of the state will be held on June 10.
Harnot described the initiative as a historic step, noting that for the first time in the history of the Shimla Summer Festival, such a large number of writers are being given a common platform and recognition. He also announced that story-telling sessions and literary programmes for children are expected to be organised soon with the support of the district administration.
The literary community has welcomed the move, viewing it as a significant effort to promote literature, culture, and creative dialogue during one of Himachal Pradesh’s most prominent cultural festivals.
