NIT Hamirpur to Host ‘Yuva Connect’ on National Sports Day

Hamirpur, August 24: My Bharat (MY Bharat), Hamirpur, will organise a special ‘Yuva Connect’ programme at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur on August 27, 2026, as part of nationwide National Sports Day celebrations.

The programme aims to connect young people with sports, sports development, youth leadership and nation-building. National Sports Day is observed on August 29 to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. This year, nationwide activities are being held on August 27 with a focus on youth participation, sports development and nation-building.

District Youth Officer Deepmala Thakur said the key highlight of the programme will be a virtual address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister is scheduled to interact with more than eight lakh young people at around 1,600 locations across the country, with youth at NIT Hamirpur also joining the national programme.

Following the address, the event will focus on a local youth dialogue involving MY Bharat volunteers, local sportspersons and public representatives. Participants will have an opportunity to share their ideas, suggestions, aspirations and experiences.

Discussions will focus on India’s growing sports ecosystem, expansion of grassroots sports facilities and coaching, identification and development of sporting talent, and preparing athletes for the 2036 Olympics. Youth leadership, participation in governance and youth empowerment for a developed India will also form part of the dialogue.

The programme will further encourage young people to explore skill development, volunteering and opportunities to contribute to nation-building. Suggestions and ideas shared by youth will form an important part of the interaction.

MY Bharat, Hamirpur, has appealed to the district’s youth to participate in large numbers and become part of the national youth dialogue.
