1 min read

Chamba, February 19, 2026: A district-level coordination meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repswal reviewed preparations for the upcoming National Deworming Day and Vitamin-A supplementation campaign. The Deputy Commissioner informed that on February 23, deworming medicine will be administered to children aged 1 to 19 years through schools and Anganwadi centres to improve their health and nutritional status, while children up to five years of age will receive Vitamin-A doses.

Emphasising full coverage, the Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to ensure that every eligible child is included in the campaign. He highlighted that worm infections caused by contaminated water, playing in soil, and poor hand hygiene can lead to anaemia, malnutrition, and hinder both physical and mental development in children.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jalam Singh Bhardwaj stated that Vitamin-A supplementation helps protect young children from eye-related diseases, while Albendazole tablets will be provided to the 1–19 age group. Children who miss the dose on February 23 can receive it during the mop-up day scheduled for February 28.
