Modi Government Committed to Women Empowerment: Anurag Thakur

April 11, 2025 – Himachal Pradesh: Former Union Minister and MP Anurag Singh Thakur addressed the 41st Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony at the prestigious PG Government College for Girls, Chandigarh, where he felicitated 2,800 students and highlighted the Modi Government’s consistent efforts towards women empowerment.
Thakur emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, various schemes such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Matru Vandana, Sukanya Samriddhi, Ujjwala Yojana, One Stop Centres, Namo Drone Didi, and Mahila Samman Savings Certificate have significantly contributed to the upliftment and empowerment of women across the nation.
He proudly stated that today, women are not just making strides in India but are also achieving top positions globally. Recalling BJP’s commitment to women’s representation, he mentioned 50% reservation in Panchayati Raj institutions and the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, ensuring 33% reservation for women in Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
Highlighting welfare measures, Thakur spoke about the increase in maternity leave from 12 to 26 weeks, free treatment up to ₹5 lakh under Ayushman Bharat, Working Women Hostel Scheme, Saubhagya Yojana* for free electricity connections, and the aim to create 3 crore Lakhpati Didis. He also noted that under the MUDRA scheme, over ₹32.61 lakh crore in loans have been disbursed, with nearly 70% going to women entrepreneurs.
