Mock Drill ‘Operation Abhyas’ to be Held in Shimla on May 7

Shimla, May 06 – The Shimla District Administration will conduct a mock drill titled “Operation Abhyas” on May 7, 2025, at 4 PM. The drill will take place at the DC Office complex and in the Sanjauli parking area. Additionally, a citywide blackout will be observed from 7:20 PM to 7:30 PM.
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap shared that the preparations for the mock drill will begin at 10 AM. He urged citizens to strictly follow all instructions and actively participate in the exercise.
Key components of the mock drill include:
- Civil Defence (CD) wardens and volunteers enrollment.
- Risk assessment across the district and identification of vulnerable areas.
- Air raid warnings, blackout enforcement, and camouflage measures.
- Regular drills, evacuation plans, and emergency services readiness.
- Public awareness and training programs.
During the drill, sirens may be sounded. Citizens are advised to stay calm, seek shelter, practice blackout by covering lights and windows, halt vehicles if driving, and follow evacuation protocols. People are also encouraged to prepare emergency kits and assist vulnerable individuals.
The public is requested to avoid rumors and rely only on official updates via radio, TV, or government alerts.
