Under the collaboration of HIMCOSTE EIACP PC Hub and WWF EIACP PC-RP, awareness activities for Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) are being conducted until November 8-11, 2023.

Launched by the Prime Minister on October 20, 2022, in Kevadia, Gujarat, Mission LiFE focuses on bringing about behavioral changes in individuals through simple actions. The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India, is the nodal ministry for the national-level coordination and implementation of Mission LiFE.

As part of their efforts, the ministry has organized structured activities with LiFE and spread awareness about sustainable practices and actions that individuals can undertake. The program involves various educational institutions, including government degree colleges in Badoh, Sroti, Sunhi, Airla, and Kandiholran, along with secondary schools in Badoh, Sroti, Airla, Kharaat, and Kandiholran Panchayats.

On November 9, 2023, the program extended to senior secondary schools like Nagarota Bagwan, Hatwas, Greenfield Nagarota Bagwan, Madan Mohan Malviya Nagarota, Himalayan Public School Nagarota, and Rainbow International School. On November 10, 2023, awareness activities were organized by the Department of Technical Education Vocational and Industrial Training, Badoh, Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh Government Degree College, Nagarota Bagwan.

The event included a screening of documentaries on Mission LiFE and EIACP, followed by a Q&A session. The team engaged in discussions with students, appreciating their enthusiasm for understanding and adopting environmentally friendly and sustainable lifestyles. The program was successful in instilling awareness about climate change and encouraging positive lifestyle changes among participants.

The team also covered various tourist destinations in Kangra, such as Kangra Fort, Chamunda Temple, Brijeshwari Temple, and Jwala Ji Temple, providing information about Mission LiFE’s significance and its themes.

Approximately 10,000 targeted viewers actively participated in these awareness activities. The collaborative efforts of WWF EIACP PC-RP, New Delhi, and HIMCOSTE EIACP PC Hub, Shimla, marked the first such event in the Kangra district, setting a precedent for similar initiatives in the future.
